Beekeeper x LumApps: Leading the shift to unified, AI-driven employee experience

Historically, organizations have relied on separate systems to reach different parts of the workforce. Intranets supported communication and knowledge-sharing for office workers. Frontline teams — often without email or regular computer access — used disconnected mobile tools, if they had any at all. This divide made it hard to align teams, share consistent updates, or scale digital support across the entire organization.

As Gartner research states, “There continues to be a great deal of hype associated with AI and an industrywide push for superapps to simplify access — especially for frontline workers.” They also recommend that companies “aim for a modern intranet…that delivers information and services to employees in context of their work and personal needs.”

The lines between intranet platforms and employee communication apps are blurring — and the need for a unified platform is growing.

As Forrester’s Cheryl McKinnon points out, there’s a “growing overlap” between the two categories. “A combined platform addresses the needs of both groups, offering tools tailored to desk workers while delivering mobile-first solutions for frontline employees,” she writes.

Elie Mélois, Chief Product & Technology Officer and Co-Founder of LumApps, explains, “We’re already working side by side to build the next-generation platform — one that combines intelligence, mobility, and performance to serve every employee, everywhere.”

In the near term, that means shared content and communication capabilities — including integrated chat, workflows, and learning tools — that help organizations better support both desk-based and frontline teams without disrupting existing systems.

Next, we’ll move into deeper integration across productivity, learning, and engagement.  Beekeeper’s productivity features — including surveys, forms, tasks, and mobile-first chat — will extend into the LumApps intranet. At the same time, LumApps’ capabilities — including video support, learning tools, Micro-Apps for third-party integration, an advanced Content Management System, Augmented Search, and AI-powered assistants — will be embedded into Beekeeper to enhance the frontline experience.

“We’re creating a platform that brings clarity and simplicity to every workday — not just for the office, but for the frontline too,” explains Beekeeper’s CEO and Co-Founder, Cris Grossmann.

Our combined company, LumApps Group, now serves more than seven million users across 2,000 clients. With $150 million in recurring revenue and backing from Bridgepoint, we’re well-positioned to lead the employee experience technology category while continuing to support our existing customers.

This merger is not a departure from our roots — it amplifies our mission to make frontline lives easier. We’re expanding what’s possible for frontline teams by connecting them more directly to desk-based colleagues, leadership, and the systems that support their day-to-day work.

We’re not just evolving our platform — we’re changing the standard for what employee experience software should do and who it should serve. And we’re just getting started.
