WOMEN OF BEEKEEPER: MEET NORA
Born in Bucharest, raised on oil rigs in the Black See, schooled between Geneva and Zurich. In 2004, I started working at Thompson Reuters which, back then, was launching a professional social network based on Microsoft Messenger. Since then, I've been in the business of convincing people that internal social networks have a positive impact in companies, whether by creating a sense of community, transparency but also by creating knowledge.

Do you have a guiding principle, motto,
or quote you live by?
“Whether you think you can or whether you think you can’t, you’re right.” It's crucial to be open and to trust yourself; know that life is working for you (i have to remind myself constantly too).
How do you measure your success?
I measure it by the availability and energy levels I have in my free time and with my daughter.
What is your proudest moment in your professional career?
Any moment we had major team achievements are the proudest moments. When you feel that you are part of something that moves forward because everyone pulls in the same direction, it's quite amazing.
What is your advice to young women
“We are repeatedly what we do. Excellence, then, is not an act, but a habit.”— Aristotle
Evangelising the benefits of social networks since 2004 gave me the understanding that whatever the technology; changing the culture and the status quo in a company is the hardest part. Helping clients to embrace that change at any level of their corporate culture is the best achievement.
What personal achievements
are you proud of?
I don't think it's specific to tech; but becoming a mom had a profound impact on me.
It challenged many conscious and unconscious notions I had. Having a women mentor helped me tremendously to find my new balance.
What is the biggest challenge
you’ve ever faced as a woman in tech?
Who is your role model,
who inspires you?
Art, Poetry, Music... anything truly original that bypasses my head, my convictions and challenges me, giving me no other choice than to feel.
